Default Balancer question

Now, since I realize the need to pin my balancer, I have some other thoughts. Would one of those ATI, or Fluidamper new type balancers do any good on a supercharged GenIII engine? Don't know if would help, or even work on it, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I thought it was just the crank that needed to be pinned? Ive heard of the ATI one, but not sure what it does.

Well, when you drill the holes for the pins, you actually drill right between the crank, and the balancer.

The answer is yes they are good with a supercharger but you'll need a custom diameter damper. Most of the Fluidamper and ATI dampers are underdriven and would cut down the revs of the supercharger deminishing it's boost.ATI will build you a custom sized damper,if you send them a pattern, but I doubt the gains relised would be worth the expense.I do beleive that L-Eater had ASP build him a larger diameter crank pulley to increase his supercharger's boost.

With the Magnacharger kit, they provided a longer bolt to attach an alignment fixture to the crank's snout allowing you to drill the edge of the pulley and crank,so the pins can be installed.

I know that, I was just wondering if there is anything to gain in using one of the new Fluidamper, or ATI balancers. Or....if it can even be done.

Probably wouldn't hurt. Not something we need to think about doing in the next week, but maybe before the season opens next year.
