If you have any experience with this kit, please chime in your thoughts.

I know there is a d-1 kit also, and I contemplating these as options for the icing on the cake so to speak. I am going to be doing a rebuild of the motor in my 97 Z71. When this is done it will be a forged bottom end w 9:1 compression. It will be getting a cam, and full bolt ons (headers, cai, ect). The other thing that is important to mention is that the truck will be getting a converter as well, but will wait to see what forced induction route I decide to go with, as I am also keeping a sts universal kit in mind also.
Thanks for any input in advance,
Chris

Do a 6.0 swap instead with the trick front mount kit. You'll notice way more power than the route you're thinking about. I had a p1 with my 5.3 before, No comparison between the 2 at the same boost level. It may cost just alittle more initially but you'll be much happier going this way in the long run, Trust me.

I do not have a 5.3, I have the 5.7. I considered a 6.0 swap, but It is not within my budget, and I would like to have the truck have a FI setup. I have decided to upgrade to forged parts in the bottom end, and do full bolt on's with a cam and converter in the engine that I have now. This truck is driven daily, and I use it to tow/haul all the time. I'm not looking to get to carried away with this, but would like more power. I plan on putting together a 79-82 malibu for the track to handle my speed fix.

I have had plenty of experience with that setup. It will take some work to get the truck running how it needs to be, but other than that it should work very well.

Well I understand you don't have a 5.3 I was just suggesting you do a 5.3 or 6.0 swap. The older 5.7's Don't have the fueling capabilities as the newer motors have. My truck is my DD and I tow with it too, along with everything else most people use a truck for.

If you swapped in a 6.0 with a decent cam, it would come in within 50 hp or less of the supercharged 5.7, just because the fueling is so limited with the Vortec 5.7. Find a 6.0 for 1500 or so, a cam for 350 plus conversion parts and you will be way under what you would spend for a supercharger.

I want to have the truck forced induction no matter what motor is in it. I have made up my mind due to $$$, and the fact that I have been extremely happy with the vortec 350. I had an 01 with a 5.3 and loved it too, but there is only a 10 hp diffrence stock to stock. I know that once you start to do a bunch of mods that the 5.3 or 6.0 will make more power, but like I stated before, I really do not wish to get too caried away with this truck. I just want to know if there are people here that have or have had either of the procharger kits available for the vortec 350, and what the think about it.

a freind of mine had a turbo on his 5.7 , It made good power just couldn't keep it from det. So he ended up pulling it off and swaping in an LT-1. This is why I said go with a newer gen. motor.
