Question another homemade turbo setup

im wanting to make my own turbo setup and i have a few questions.
1. is 9 psi too much for a dd? even though i haul *** everywhere(hit 98 mph atleast 4 times a day, not sure if this is alot or not)
2. what would be the best intercooler for air to air?
3. what size turbo should i use to get 9 psi?(if that what i use)
4. what kind of turbo should i use?
5. what BOV should i get?
6. what size spring do i put in the BOV?
7. what other mods should i get b/c of the turbo?(i dont need to replace another engine)
thanks in advance, need all the help i can get, if you have a turbo setup pics would be greatly appreciated.

Cool

1. 9 psi should be ok. I would get a boost control and set a base of 5-7 psi and a high setting of 9-10 psi.
2. Not sure check EBay and search here for what the guys are using.
3. Maybe a T60-1 or a GT67 if you want to upgrade.
4. Garrett and check out Forced Inductions
5. TiAL
6. 11# psi ( depends on the altitude you run at and engine vacuum on deceleration)
7. 42# or bigger Injectors, 255LPH Fuel pump, NGK TR6 plugs Tune, Boost gauge, Fuel pressure gauge, logging/tuning software, methanol injection(depending on IATs), Wideband O2

Sounds like a fun project, good luck

You will either need to find someone with tuning software or purchase it yourself(HPTuners, efi live, ls1 edit, etc...) I'd highly recommend finding a knowledgable person to help you out in your area unless you were willing to try and learn it yourself. You can purchase a mail order tune from someone like wait4me performance or Nelson Performance and they can get it close and drivable. A Preditor handheld tunner isn't going to cut it. A wideband oxygen sensor measures across a 5v spand and a narrowband(stock) measures across a 1v span. Basically, a wideband is a stand alone air fuel measuring device that is a must to dial in a tune for forced induction. A Tial brand blow off valve you needis probably around a 38mm. The same goes for a wastegate, unless you get a turbo with a built in wastegate. It sounds like you have a lot to learn. Good luck. You might look into a Livernois turbo kit or an STS ranther than trying it yourself. You may find it worth the money. Neither come with a tune or fuel system but are not a must with the 5psi that the stock kits come with. Read the sticky at the top of the FI section on comparing the different systems. A lot of these guys with turbos have links in their signatures to pictures.

No offence but if you dont know what these are off the bat before starting a custom turbo project make sure you enlist the help of someone with a lot of experience.

This is a big controversy all the time. I'm not even going to open that can of worms. Everyone that has HPT or efi Live are all happy with their product that I can tell. I just purchased HPT(site sponsor). This link may help from our father site LS1tech https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368718
