It might seem like rigging something up will save you money, but what about the exhaust, the wiring for the O2 sensors, and what about the transmission? How about tuning? Do you have a welder, a chop saw, a grinder? Before jumping into any project that basically makes your truck un-drivable until you finish it, set aside some fudge funds for all the unexpected things that come up. Look at it this way: if breaking something major, like the transmission and/or the rear end, is going to bankrupt you, then don't do something like this.

I would say if you wanna go fast for cheap stick to bolt ons. The majority of bolt ons won't require you to change out most of your supporting mods. If your gonna go with F.I. your gonna have to replace the supporting system, such as tranny, rear-ends and fuel system. That's gonna get you into more debt.
I'd get a base STS kit and call it a day, you might not have to replace too much.

If you can afford the down time and are really interested and have the skills to make your own, then go for it. But if you're fabing up your own, you might as well go with a front mount. If you don't want the hassle then a rear mount should be a walk in the park for you. But remember, you'll need an oil pump, intake plumbing, wiring etc. People have done thier own rear mounts before, and some with great success, but it's never as cheap as they thought it would be. I priced it out sooo many times before I bought my kit, and since my time is money too, it wasn't worth it. Plus you get a warranty and customer support. Just things to consider when fabing your own kit.

3 years ago I would say sure fab it up, but with 3 proven companies producing affordable kits now I don't really see the reason anymore unless you're going with twins or for max power.

I made my own kit, cost around $2000 for all the parts, Most i had for downtime was 1 day for the exhaust work, which I had to get a shop to do. Other than that, I ran the charge tube, oil lines and wiring, installed wideband in less than a day. Cheaper than a sts kit if you are willing to put the time in to figure out what you need and the time spent ordering all the parts. You'll need to figure out tuning, i ended up buying hptuners pro so i can log my wideband. so all said and done with tuning software i'd say i'm about $3000 into it

i think the remote mount will be the wat to go for me i guess now all i have to do is figure out what parts i will need.

so i will need a turbo and oil pump so if anyone has a recomendation i am all ears.all the plumbing i can do at work and get a discount (i work at a deisel shop).

so i guess i will need a trubo, oil pump, injectors and a fuel pump and a custom tune. anything else?

Trick or TrickPerformanceProducts builds front mount kits for the late model GM trucks. It took us a long time to release the kit, kept changing angles, and fitments, to make sure we where happy with it. Install time is really less then a day, and that does include the final connections of the downpipe to the stock exhuast system.

We give a 1yr warranty on all weldings, and piping with our kits.

We also are building electronics for the force induction world, and nitrous world.

New style of guages are coming, and we have new guage mounts being built. And are going to give our customers the option to have some custom engraving done to make the unit really fit there world and truck better. (engraving upcharge is depending on the complexity of the design.)
Mounts will be available in 3 looks, polished, anodized, raw. and have several options of gauges holes, and switch holes.

Trick is always working on new things and the performancetrucks.net is the place where we will be releasing all our new product first.

Feel free to drop a line if there is anything we can do for you.
