Default advance or retard gt2-3

Would there be any benifit to advancing the gt2-3 cam to get a little more low end? I am not going to shift any higher than 5800 so I want to get as much power in my rpm band as I can. Also how do you measure advancing or retarding the cam when you install it?

even with my 6000lb brick? My main reasoing is I seen people make this cam pull through 6300 rpm and I'm going to be 500 rpm down. I don't want to short shift when I can advance the cam and move the powerband down a bit

cannot argue with that logic.

Ummm... don't you want to advance a cam to lower the power band in the RPM range.

As far as measuring the amount of advance or retard you will need to "degree" the cam. Degree wheel, pointer, stop for TDC and dial indicator. I'm sure there are a lot of write ups on the net on how to do it.

I think there are kits you can buy to advance or retard the cam. Offset bushings for the bolts in the cam gear. My last cam I bought a custom grind with 4 degrees advance ground in. It had amazing bottom end power.
