Default 90mm/Radix question

I've been wondering....

The last time I had my throttle body off, it looked to me like the j-tube had alot of material that could be removed(ported) for a 90mm throttle body. Edelbrock & many other companies offer 3 bolt, cable operated 90mm throttle bodies.

Can the 78mm j-tube be ported to 90mm?

I use a 78mm J-tube for my 90mm T-body. I just cut off the 78mm flange and welded on a flange I made for a 90mm. Works perfectly fine for me. I assume the Magnacharger version could be bigger on the I'D, but if it is I am not losing sleep over it.

I stole this photo from BLASTER's for sale thread.

Looking at the throttle body flange, it looks to me like about an hour with a die grinder is all it would take. Nobody has ever done this?? Looks too easy.

Several had done it in the early days before the modified units from West Coast Cylinder heads or more recently, the 90mm J-Tubes from Magnacharger were available. Look for old posts made by Big Tex, as he was one of the 1st to do so. He actually used the 90mm DBW SSR 4-Bolt throttle body, but otherwise, the grinding part would be the same.

I bet it wouldnt be too bad to have a machine shop mod it for ya.

And Yes the My Edelbrock 90mm can be 3 or 4 bolt flange.

I used BigBlackAV's hole saw trick and BIGTEX's idea combined from that thread linked above. Works like a charm and if the mod wasn't worth it, Maggie wouldn't have started doing it. BIGTEX's thread covers it all, even the hook bolt which was on my truck for 4 yrs.

The only thing I did different from BigBlackAV was I removed the jtube. I was too scared of aluminum bits getting where I didn't see them. Clean that fugger up really good!

Mine

The hole saw works awesome cuz it takes out all that material. Just use the burring and polishing tool to clean it all up. This pic is after 4yrs of use.
