UMI, FAST and Nicky Williams make 90mm cable operated TB's.

I have nothing but good things for the NW. The FAST, cannot say the same things for it. UMI is pretty recent if i recall correctly. Don't know much about it.

I think you'd have to "port" the j tube in order to get the opening out to 90mm and I have no idea what alterations you'd have to make to get it to bolt on.

I bought a couple of J-bolts from Lowes. One was 1/4" and felt a little small to me. The other was 3/8" adn worked out very well. I had to slightly enlarge the hole on the TB with a drill so the bolt easily fit through. The thicker bolt turned out much better. I thought it would work OK with just 3 bolts, but when I cinched down the J-bolt, I could really see the gasket compress around that side.

For what its worth, I looked all over the "nuts and bolts" section of Lowes for a J-bolt, but never found any. When I finally located them, they were over on another isle with other hangers and hardware. These were located in a little section with other types of "hanging hardware". U-bolts were there too.

Quick update - trucks been running for a few days now. No real hard testing yet, but no problems either. 90mm SSR TB works great. I went ahead and ported it before I installed it. No leaks! Handmade gasket works perfectly. No idle issues at all.

During install, you could really see the J-bolt apply pressure on the gasket. Its firm and strong. Works great.

I searched all over HD and Lowes for a J-bolt and couldn't find them. I ended up buying them off of the internet from ACE. They were $0.70 a piece but shipping was $5.

I bought Gasket material from Summit for $9.00.

My set-up is running fine as well, I used the Corvette LS-2 style TB. The only thing that surprised me on the install is what a PIA Al is to grind. If you spin your Dremel too fast it melts and clogs up the bit

Richard...I took lots of pics. Once I get the memory card on CD, I will post them here. They are very similar to your "How To" except the difference is the different TB. Might be a good side-by-side for everyone to see.

yep, I didn't have any luck at lowes...i found mine at ACE ... my throttlebody should be here next week and unless something happens quickly w/ the J-tube secret sponsor, i'm going the "BigTex" route and doing it myself...thanks for sharing your R and D BigTex...Great update!

Kevin, I welcome your pictures and experience to this thread. Post what you want, any pictures, and and any differences you took in making your modifications. Same thing to anyone else modding their radix. Once we have more feedback, we can compile it into a more refined post.

Kevin brought up a good point on the grinding process. I've been using some rotary files to do my porting. They do cake up with aluminum at higher rpms, but they are pretty easy to clean up. These files are much more effective than sanding type bits or grinding stones.

Tip- Grinding aluminum, get a bit for nonferrous metals.

They are listed as clog free down at the bottom of page 2510.
