8 Rib Install / Pictures

The powersteering pump variations should be rectified, Joe and I worked together to come up with a hub that should fit them all. I also had one of the shorter shafts on mine as well. I will add to my first post. People should make sure they have at a minimum .010" clearance between the powersteering hub and the base of the powersteering shaft. Personally I wanted a good .015" on mine as the shaft does have some in and out play in it.

We have been building these 8 rib systems since 2007 and have never had any issues with the P/S pulley moving on the shaft. They are a press fit design, with the correct interferance fit they wont move. They are installed just like the factory one.

It can be done in place but I would suggest disconnecting your battery and PCM just to be safe. Mine was done off of the truck, when you weld it take a towel and soak it in cold water and wrap it around behind the pulley, this will help absorb the heat. You don't want to overheat it and kill the bearing.

You just need to fuse the pump shaft to the pulley, just so it wont spin off.
Heres the pulley installer / remover i bought from amazon for about 50 bux. They work great.

thats good to hear there hasnt been a problem with it , only reason i had a concern is cause the water pump pulley is pressed on also and i learned the hard way with that and now have it welded on after spinning it off and would think the p/s pulley would do the same eventually but its good to hear its not an issue.
