6L80 turbo crowd on stock converter
#1
Hello all. I'm installing a 5.3/6L80 combo out of a 2010 Silverado into my 2002 2wd blazer and adding a T78 and a 212/218 cam from TSP. . I'm pulling the motor one last time now to rebuild heads and install new cam, timing set up etc and I was wondering if there was any reason besides giving up some performance, that I shouldn't run the stock converter. I'm guessing the truck will be around 4000lbs ready to run, and id like to be able to tow with it still without having to be concerned with trans temps or anything else. I realize there are plenty of guys running stock converters on builds, I am just hoping to condense some feedback on it before I stab it back in. Thanks!

Only input I can give is my 2014. Stock stall was 2300 in warm weather and 2500 in cool. Now with the Whipple it will stall at 3000 although its useless even in 4wd bc of traction so I leave at idle. I'm 5200 race weight bc I run it like I DD. Gonna be fun at that weight!

The gen4 6l80 converters are tight as hell. My brothers truck is boosted on stock stall and it builds boost slow off the line. Mine with a 3400 triple disk builds boost whenever lol.

Good news so far, except it's probably going to be even lower stall in my truck. That's okay though, if I have issues building boost, which I'm already sure will be the case, a nice little shot of gas will get her moving and I'm not the least bit opposed to that

Mine? 4.8, TSP 220, 4.10 gears on 30" drag radial, T76 @10lbs and 3400 stall 12.66@106 with 4-5 gear issues. It skip shifts fourth straight to fifth so its got some left in it. My brothers truck is a best of 14.5@98. 5.3 with a T70 @ 10lbs CCSB. Bad gears and no converter doesnt help him
