A properly built Forged should last longer with out question. The parts would not be over stressed. Lets say GM designed the components to make 400hp in the L33, anything over that would be considered over stressed. For an example aftermarket rods might be rated for 1000hp with good bolts. This was the design intent plain and simple, cost is not as much of an issue vs. the big automaker.

Once you make 401hp its a gamble and you are playing with fire, plain and simple. We find that most engines are ok with a 50% gain in power, maybe not with every day beating the snot out of them for 150k miles like the stock'er though. Some engines will survive 100 passes at the track with a 120% gain in power too. Still do not expect to drive it across the country beating the snot out of it and expect to drive it back in one piece lol.

Most every one will tell you that the stock 5.3, 5.7, 6l... or what have you is good for about 500-550whp. Not one of those people have broke one on c-16 fuel with a good tune though. Unless they broke a rod before the piston they do not know the real limit. It is generally a matter of compression, boost and a poor fuel choice.

I think the key to a stock block lasting is the tune. The stock longblock (other than a cam and ARP studs) Rick @ Synergy uses in his shop truck has a good 8k + miles on it. This link he is only hitting 713 RWHP at 17psi but I know he has broke 800 on this 5.3l with his new turbo headers and 18lbs.

Granted he does dial it down to 14lbs when he's just cruising it around but I think it shows with the proper tune you can push the heck out of it.

Rick

Never called you an idiot....honestly I just want people to understand there IS a level of risk by doing this NO MATTER HOW GOOD OF A TUNER SOMEONE IS. Yes, it can be done, yes a turbo OR a supercharger can do it.....Fair enough?

Yessir, good enough...just recalling you saying its all good to boost 10+psi and spray engines with maggie's.

No doubt on the risk, just like bolting on a maggie and making 6psi. When its not stock anymore its not going to be as reliable. I would like every one to know also! The more you push the closer you get to the edge.

Someday Steve might drive it a couple of hours to the track and back and make some passes on the 35's. Time will tell.

Keep up the good work, you help a lot of people bolt on horse power. I will continue to do it my way and push things though, I am still a punk *** kid.

Yes its just a truck mani turned around, they work great!!!
So then a little mix at the track or dyno won't hurt anything?
