5.3L with rear mount T70 .96 A/R?
I blew the #7 piston on my 6.0L a week ago. It started blowing oil out the breather, I did a compresson test #7 is down to 90psi, vs 170psi.
I've decided i'm going to sell the truck, and get a Duramax. I was going to drop the 5.3L back in removed the turbo, swap a 4l60e back in and sell it.
Now i'm thinking if the 5.3L will spool that turbo, it would be a lot less work to just drop it back in, and sell it as is. I'm not sure how much I'd get for the turbo if its off the truck, and its kind of a pain to sell everything.
So how well will a stock 5.3L work with a Master power t70 .96 a/r, stock exhaust, fully wrapped. With a 4L80E, and a stock stall.

I am putting that exact turbo on my truck saturday. I have the 4l60e though. I plan to try it with the .96. If it doen't spool quick enough I plan to put a .68 on it. You can get the .68 from mp for 125 dollars and a .81 from percision for 185 dollars. It should work well with one of the smaller housings.

I ended up driving my truck to work yesterday, on 7 cyl's. The turbo still spooled, maybe took a little longer than normal. I was really trying to keep it out of boost too. (I had the #7 injector disconnected)
A 6.0L running on 7 cyl's has less displacement than a 5.3L, right. I'm going to try it anyways.

The 5.3L is in, you know it works rather well, actually extremely well.
Maybe its the 4L80E loading it up allowing it to spool so well, or the fact that my truck is a reg cab, so the turbo isn't that far back there. I don't think i'd want a smaller a/r housing, I think it would get into boost too much, and suck gas.
I can brake stall it to 4 psi almost instantly in 4x4, I didn't try going high yet, but I'm sure it will go higher.
The weather could be helping that little 5.3L too. My 6.0L felt like a dog in the heat, it wouldn't spool at all. But that was with the 4l60e too, and unwrapped exhaust.
Too bad I'm selling this truck, its working so good. I just put money down on an 05 LLY Duramax this morning
