Another circle D with massive slip under power.

Locking up the converter is not the answer, just a crutch

Locking is far from a crutch and why you have a multi disk...single disk arent meant to be locked

Locking converters isnt a new thing and factory boosted vehicles been doing it for years

factory vehicles make **** power so they can get away with it.

A good converter doesn't need to be locked up. I'm taking Dave's word over yours.

Whos dave?

Im curious as to why or proof that a multi-disk is bandaided by locking it when its intended to be locked and when locking it will result in better times

Im also aware of jobs good converters do, used a bradco in the stang we built....but you wont see many bolt together converters on this site...ppl are far to cheap to spend that kind of money

Theres factory vehicles making pretty impressive numbers these days and even days of old which locked the converters under power

many ppl have locked converters and gained nothing

also you lose torque multiplication and also may cause you to fall out of power band if rpm drop is too much. There's too many factors to make a generic statement that locking always results in better times, in fact you may trap higher but not run any faster et.

Calm down guys, some people lock them others don't. Every combo and converter is different. An efficient converter shouldn't need to be locked IMO. I did testing years ago with non turbo SBC nitrous stuff and gained nothing more than a couple mph locked. Less heat generated in the trans with it locked though.

I want to know why OP is spinning it so high of rpm? Does any one else think that's odd?

A gain of mph is a gain of worth

As for losing the multiplication when locked...it makes it act as a manual with no slip and applying power without that power going up in slip

As for dropping out of powerband, that goes back to not having correct final gearing when crossing traps....always should be peak power rpm crossing traps

IMO, Your turning that thing to high. The triple 12 with the MP Q trim will work better short shifted about 6200. It's falling on its face hard by 7000+. It's sweet spot is gonna be from about 4000-6200 even in a 4.8. You could even bump the timing a degree or 2 and should still be safe.
