I have two of Grag Banish's books. Designing and tuning EFI systems, and, Engine Management - Advanced tuning. Lots of info and only like 35 bucks. Buy them.

A bit of a newb question, but how do the SD tunes act with daily drivers and ever-changing weather conditions? Do you have to tweak it until you can get it right? Weather isn't too extreme here in Ca and a buddy of mine had a H/C F-Body on SD and LOVED it. But it wasn't his DD.

I know eventually I need to bite the bullet and learn how to tune my own truck, it'll probably help a lot in the long run.

Opening up the intake side of my Radix 5.3 and trying to decide between a 100MM MAF and going SD myself.

I DD mine with a SD tune. Pretty sure my weather swings are alot more severe than anything you will ever see.

I have no troubles at all.

Myth BUSTED! lol

I run 2bar CLSD and have no issues with weather or altitude.

The problem with your 01 is not going to be a MAF limitation but the inability of the stock PCM to process information above 512 lb/min. I maxed out my MAF table on 9#. I have been running the HPT 2bar SD OS for a few years now and have had no issues with it. If you are planning much over 15#, you may consider the 3bar OS.

There are ways to not "max out" the MAF and still run a stock 1bar OS for this set-up. Tuners have been dialing in big boost set-ups simply by equally scaling roughly 25 tables in the tune file. Sure the table resolution is slightly compressed however it is a viable alternative to the 2bar SD standard answer.

BTW, I did just this as my old set-up maxed the MAF by 4500rpm IIRC. She ran high 11's and pushed over 530 to the wheels @ 5500lbs.
