20psi on stock 4.8

UPDATE .... so I got it to the carwash and washed the oil out of the engine bay, then hit the road. Still a haze of blue smoke behind me, I pulled over and the engine bay was good, the smoke is coming from the exhaust. Out of the down pipe actually, I don't have an exhaust system on it yet. Downpipe is wet with oil. Not good. I'm guessing the turbo is either over oiling or I burned a hole in one of the pistons with my 20psi experience. Any guesses? I'm going to do a compression check tonight. Still seems to run ok, considering its a baseline tune. Still builds boost beyond 3000rpm, but I haven't taken it beyond 5psi since fixing the wastegate.

this sounds very similar to how my last build went... it didn't end well. im hoping the dipstick just came out because of your pcv setup, thats what it was for me. hope the best for you man!

Ya I hope so. I was talking to a mechanic at work and he asked if my brakes still worked at an idle/low rpm, as he said if you have serious compression loss you will have no/marginal power brakes. My brakes are still firm at all rpms, and the engine still sounds pretty good, so I'm trying to stay optimistic. Like I said in a previous post, I had it up to 5psi today and the dipstick stayed put. I will be doing a compression check as soon as I get home from work, will post the results asap.

hope everything is alright. sounds like you are having some wastegate issues as well w/ boost that high. vacuum line on the right port? live tune would be a good idea as well being FI. i've spent hrs on the dyno and street getting mine where i want it.

This sounds familiar. A few months ago another board member had just put on his first turbo on his stock motor and routed the waste gate backwards and the same thing happened and he blew his motor. Hopefully that is not the case for you. Too much oil to the turbo would be a culprit for the blue smoke. Let us know how it goes.
