Default 2012 Silverado turbo build.

What is everyone doing for cats when installing turbo set up? I live in NY and have inspections yearly; however, I am unsure about the extent of the inspection. Anyone in NY with some info about having cats or being able to eliminate them? I tune with HP tuners.

I would imagine that they don't do sniffer testing, as most states don't anymore. Typical inspection procedures are hooking up to the OBD2 port and as long as the truck is not showing any failed tests you should be fine. This assumes the technician is lazy and does not do a visual inspection or that he is dumb enough not to notice the cats missing.

I've done many "custom tunes" via HPTuners for the sole purpose of getting inspections down here in Texas and have never had a problem with guys deleting cats.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking into getting a cheap cat for visual and then just using HP tuners to prevent rear O2 from reporting errors. Sounds legit right?
