I run LPE's 2-step and it works great. Cheap effective and totally plug and play. You can build boost like none other.

vanilla can you speak of the true effectiveness of it on the 4.8. I dont know what your running, but ima 4.8 trick turbo 4.10 gear. 62mm turbo and I cant build boost w-o pushing the tires. I cant decide between hydroboost or a two step. Ive been heavily leaning towards nitrous but I really jsut want boost on the line. 2wd as well.....

Hey guys, I am 4wd and don't need to do a burnout except to heat the turbo. If I don't do a burnout to heat the turbo I can brake stall my truck at 100% throttle for over 5 seconds and it won't build even 1psi off of the line. If I have the turbo really hot I can brake stall to 8+psi instantly. I am just looking for something to make it easier to race my truck at the track and make it consistent.

The real question I have is can you run a 2 step with stock cats?

No, you can't run a 2-step with cats. You shouldn't even be running an STS kit with cats IMO.

Before any of you guys spend money, try the syty shuffle. Put it in neutral, rev the engine while pushing the brakes. You should feel the pedal drop more. Then put it into drive and stall it up. The added vacuum from revving it will allow you to get a little more out of the brakes.

Charcold, I'm not sure what your issue is. What converter do you have? A tight one with 4.10's won't allow much boost on the line. What A/R ex. housing do you have? With my 4.8 a 61mm turbo .68 A/R and a 3000stall I could build 5-8psi pretty quickily. 10psi if I sat on the converter for awhile. With the 2-step, it was full boost at the line and almost instant.

Why not run a STS kit with cats? Due to the heat or parts flying into the turbo?

Wilde, Does your truck stink without the cats? I just put cats back on my TA after four years because I couldn't stand to drive it.
