I feel better that others have had this happen.
I put another 50 miles on it last night and it's fine.

As far as oil changes go, 7K means about every two months.
Most of my driving is interstate so the miles rack up quick.

It didn't start smoking till I pulled a hill and went into boost about a mile from home (which was mostly downhill to that point). Temp gauge was still cold.

you need to let that thing warm up before getting into boost for sure. I also would highly recommend changing oil more often. I (and im sure many others in here) dont run a synthetic oil. I change mine every 2800 miles or so just to make sure it never causes an issue

Another thing is like AKLowriderz71 said... how is your drain back plumbed up?

I found out what my problem was.
Not the drain line.
I had modified the catch can with a couple layers of scotch pad to catch any oil from the fumes passing through.
Apparently, condensate formed in the can and froze.
-5 degrees out, started the truck and let it warm up. Drove down the road with water temp over halfway to normal and it started to smoke and wouldn't quit.
I knew I didn't have far to go so I kept going but wanted to check the oil when I stopped in case it was pushing out more than I thought.
When I pulled the stick it released pressure from the case. I hurried up and put the stick back in and thought a little....
I pulled the vacuum line going into the catch can and released the rest of the pressure. That means if it was stopped up from that point on, I had frozen condensate.
I didn't go any farther due to it being so freakin' cold but the can is the last outlet to atmosphere.
With the crankcase not breathing I suppose it was pushing oil out around the valve stems into the exhaust.
Anyhow, I pulled out after pulling the vacuum line out of the catch can it cleared up!

The reason it cleared up in the past was:
It wasn't as cold
The catch can is close enough to the engine to be heated up by radiant heat.
The first time it happened, it cleared up after I had stopped for five minutes (engine heat thawed the can).
-5 nothing is going to thaw an aluminum can 6" from the motor.
Live and learn.
