Overlap will actual make matters worse when the exhaust pressure overcomes the intake pressure and pre-heats the charge air. Just keep the timing conservative and maybe even run less boost when towing if you ever hear it detonate.

I'm running ~9psi(intercooled) on my 6.0L (9.6:1 cr) and had to remove quite a bit of timing in the midrange to get rid of the knock. Total timing is 14 degrees.
I don't have experience with boost higher than that on a stock engine but, seems like you'd have to remove even more timing and it might start to get to a point of diminishing returns.

If you plan to tow with that make sure to put an EGT sensor in there. That is the main issue to worry about when towing. If you're running a 2 bar you can tune it for all boost levels for the most part. Run a nice boost controller and just back the peak boost down to 6psi or so when towing.
XLR8NSS, are you still using the VVT and the VVT timing table? That could cause some knock issue's at part throttle for you. Just a thought.
