06 4.8 Low Boost Turbo Options
#11
Will I gain much from a cam swap? Not necessarily just peak HP, but the power and torque where I need it for towing and daily driving? Do these cams require spring and push rod upgrades? and what stall speed should I be looking at?

However, turbos really perform well with a loose converter. A Whipple/Radix maybe be a better option. Sure, turbo's will make more peak power but a Whipple/Radix will make hp/tq low in the rpm band where a turbo doesn't.

This is the converter Circle D e-mailed and said that they recommend. ( I listed stock cam as my cam spec since I havent chosen another cam)

I know a turbo isnt the ideal Induction option for towing, but I want to try out a turbo set up. A turbo is going to be a huge upgrade from this doggy stock 4.8, even if not "ideal" Im just curious as to if a cam upgrade will actually benefit me where I need it. How much gain over a stock cam should be expected? what are the thoughts on LS6 cams or other common 4.8 cam upgrades. I honestly prefer to keep the stock cam, but if there is a cam out there that will actually benefit me and it makes it worth the price of the upgrade, then I will gladly order it when its time for the build.

As for the cam, unboosted you're looking at 20-40hp. YMMV.
