Default 03 rcsb turbo built new! update - 12/23

Whats up guys, this is gonna be a long post as i have many questions. I come from F bodys which i still have but wanted a nice rcsb truck and found one locally. the truck is 85 percent complete but i am making a few changes to make more power then the originally owner had planned. I can keep this up to date and add a bunch of pics if people have interest in following the build thread.

2003 reg cab short bed, built 4l80, FTI triple disc converter, gen 3 6.0...which is getting replaced with a built 370ci. stock ecu and harness with holley term piggybacked for engine and trans control. truck will retain ac. weld 15x10s with 30 inch tall tires. fronts are 20x5. it has a hooker manifold which i do plan on keeping but removing the 44mm port hole and making my own for a 60mm gate. This truck was orignally DBW. what gas pedal and throttle cable are you guys using? Also are 30 inch tires too much for these truck because if so that will dictact my rear gear selection as this has 4.10s in it currentley. Looking at a 28 and 3.5 or a 3.73 and 30inch. plan to keep stock cluster, make my own custom full exhaust. gonna swap a 03 tank for an 04 tank with twin 525s. gonna switch turbos from vs 78/75 to a s488 or s491 turbo. flex fuel setup. im sure im missing a bunch of things currentley but will take pics and post/ask more questions as they come up!

update 2: changed turbos. ended up winning a 88/103 vs turbo in a raffle so i decided to sell the 85 and run that. put the rear in the car and finally have it sitting at a debent ride height with the 30 inch tall tires on it. installed the 9 inch.

update 1! : engine is together and ready to rock. waiting for the holley high ram to come in and get the engine swapped!
motor info : 6.0 iron block, 370 cubic inch, callies ccw crank, oliver billet rods, cp pistons. afr heads. pac 1207x springs. johnson 2116lsr listers, custom manton pushrods. melling 10296 pump. callies billet main caps. ls9 gaskets, arp625 studs. 10.7ish:1 compression. turbo will be a s491 or similar

got the engine in, trans back in. ptc triple disc converter in so far. next up is going to finish the turbo kit. I am gonna stick with a stock tbss intake for now as i will most likely switch turbos and run air to water later on down the road. i had to swap steam vents and to a different gen 4 valley cover.

finally have the rear all finished up and also the did the crossover and changes on the trick T6 manifold.

quick performance 9inch. Iron center. 3.89 rear gear. (Running a 30 inch rear tire). Willwood rear brake kit. Wavetrac and 35 spline axles. Total overkill but why not.

made my own down pipe and changed the trick manifold to v band and also V banded the driver side manifold.

I was gonna run a single 60mm but swapped to two 44s for external dump/ room purposes.

I would look at a stock gas pedal and stock cable. Those should work for you as you can add it onto a DBW truck

I didn’t know they offered one! Looking around I see is 99-02 had a stock cable pedal and throttle body. Is it just a simple bolt and unbolt?

Well, the stock throttle body would work if you went with a stock intake manifold. Otherwise a stock throttle body isn't what you'd want to run with a larger aftermarket manifold. Motion Raceworks I believe sells larger throttle bodies that would work with a stock cable though.

I have a TBSS intake with 92mm cable throttle body.

Then a regular pedal and throttle cable is all you'd need. You'll just have to fab up a bracket on the intake for the cable but that's easy stuff.

A 29 or 30" tire should be about right, the sidewall will load up and help keep you from spinning on launch. What stall are you running as that will change how you setup your tires and suspension. Nice looking truck.

They sell the bracket for $15-$20 ( TBSS intake manifold throttle cable bracket ) will give you options all over.

If this is a street driven truck as well keeping cruise control and switching to cable throttle is a little harder.
