Currently, XM and SIRIUS broadcast a wide range of commercial-free music channels, exclusive sports coverage, news, talk, and entertainment programming. Howard Stern. Oprah and Friends. The NFL. MLB. NBA. ESPN. CNBC. Fox News. Additionally, the combined company will be able to improve existing services such as real-time traffic information and rear-seat video as well as introduce new ones.
After shareholder and regulatory approvals, we anticipate that the combination will be finalized by the end of 2007. Until then, both companies will continue to operate independently. We will continue to provide you with the uninterrupted service - as well as the outstanding customer support - that you have come to expect and enjoy from SIRIUS. We do not anticipate any changes in your service during the merger process, however, please call our customer care team on 1- 888-539-7474 should you have any questions.
We look forward to the many benefits this combination will offer and continuing to make your listening experience an enjoyable one - offering more of the Very Best Radio on Radio.
Stay tuned,

Sirius plans to buy rival XM for $4.6 billion in stock, but U.S. Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin said on Monday the deal would face a tough time winning regulatory approval.

I havn't jumped on the satellite radio bandwagon yet and probably wont anytime soon. I like all the different stations and have listened to it online a few times thanks to a friend giving me his login info. I have all the capabiliities to do it built into my Alpine IVA-D310 but i just can't pay for radio, especially when they don't play what i want to hear, even with all the different channel selections.
That merger sounds huge, im surprised it hasn't been all over the media, this is the first i've heard of it.
Now that i think about it, i do enjoy listening to satellite radio when down in my garage working, i might just get it for home use only someday.

unless xm is showing signs of closing the doors, I can't see how the FCC would allow this. Or at least just let it go without a big fight. It would be like CBS and ABC merging...sorta.
Holty, if you are a MP3 or CD listener, you just can't beat that type of selectivity. Tower Radio versus satelite, well...commercials and talk shows give me road rage in the biggest way. So, as soon as I figure out how to write off the subscription costs on my taxes as a mental/medical thing...I'm getting more subscriptions. LOL Screw commercials on radio.

when i do listen to normal broadcast radio, i kind of enjoy listening to the commercials (for a short time anyways). I like to hear about things that are going on locally in my community and like to hear what specials and such busineses are offereing. But again, i don't expect to hear alot of music on the radio that i wanted to hear to begin with so i'm kinda expecting that.

XM is in the better financial shape Serius is not in as good of shape but they obviously got a hell of a credit line!!! I love my xm I hope they dont f up the programming. Serrius is going to raise there rates this year so if the merger happens then you can bet it will be more expensive
