Default Holy wow, I shat myself

I had to work today down in Arlington, VA. Took my truck, just got on the Washington beltway (495) and was in the middle lane when I noticed every one in front of me swerving and hitting their brakes. At this point I was doing 85MPH, then all of a sudden a bike bounces in to my lane and is air born headed for my windshield. I slam on the brakes (thank you hydroboost) and I decided to not come to a stop, after all it is the beltway, 85 to 50 is one thing, 85 to zero is bad news. I hit it. Clobbered it. Drug it all the way to the shoulder. Did a check over on the truck, all seemed fine and then threw the bike in the back and headed on to work. I took my exit (1/2 mile from scene) and on the shoulder was a suburban with 2 bikes on the back. I pulled over and asked if he was missing anything. He was very cool. He was freaking out that he had hurt somebody. He wanted me to have his insurance info and kept insisting I take his personal info. I asked if he wanted his bike, he looked at it for a few seconds and the said, "Uhm, no, I don't think I want it. But I'll take it off your hands, it's the least I can do." LMAO. He had his wife and kids in the car. I took it with me. LOL

I seriously almost shat myself. If you guys don't have experience with a beltway and 85 mph traffic...it's just like speedway sometimes. It's packed. Everybody is doing 85 and looking for holes to pass. It insanely dangerous yet fun. Hitting your brakes is the last thing you want to do on the I495 WashingtonDC Beltway.

Wow, you got lucky I guess.
I see all those bike racks lately and they all just look like an accident waiting to happen.

Heck going from 85 to 50 is almost death on 495. I'm glad there was no serious damage from the bike or another car.
I had to travel it every 3 days for 3 months to go to Dulles and Fairfax. I was leaving my house in PA at 7-8pm just to avoid some of the traffic and still had to do 75 to avoid being run over.

Yeah, lucky nobody hit ya.
A few years back, I hit a trailer ball/mount on the freeway in my lowrider.
I saw it, but traffic was too tight to do anything.
It tore a big hole in my Y-pipe.
I had to move that day too.
