Default Crazy idea?

I've been thinking about putting the truck on the road for the worst of the winter here (just something about a car with 3" clearance being driven in the worst of winter, while the truck sits in the garage seems crazy lol).

The reason I've been planning on driving the vette is that the truck has a lot of high priced parts that I don't want going to hell... Not to mention that the truck is stamped steel and the vette is fiberglass, plastic, and aluminum...

What if I built some stainless skid plates (or coated skid plates) that I could install for winters -- basically seal the area between the frame rails (as much as possible) back to axle?

Would that help at all, or am I being a winter noob still

It'll just be a place for snow and salt to collect on and rust everything they can all to hell!

You worry too much. lol

Drive your truck, wash it frequently, use the underbody spray at the touchless carwash. You'll be okay.

The fun is that when the truck is in the garage, the 3k pound C5 with a forged 427 and 6 speed is on the street

That said, as much fun as it is to watch people's face when I tell them I'm gonna drive the vette in deep snow, I really don't think it will be a great snow plow

Haha -- I'm starting to think Snow and Salt are both vengeful mother ******* with attitude

I need to find some stock 17's for some blizzaks, and raise the suspension back up.

Oh. Yeah, and little things like put the engine back together, put the engine in the truck, finish the turbo hot side, make the cold pipes... Ah hell, it's not supposed to start snowing until tomorrow! Plenty of time.

Vette+snow=bear on ice skates

Just wash the truck after everytime it snows to get the salt out from underneath it wont hurt it at all

The truck is 5k lbs and an automatic with twin turbos and ~1000hp (5 lbs per hp). The Vette is ~500hp, 6spd manual, and 3k lbs (6 lbs per hp). Both are 2wd I actually think the vette will handle better (because of the manual), but its too low for large accumulation days. then again, the truck isn't much higher as it sits...

Well, that's a lie when you add in the 27" jack stands

Neither of those sound like they'd be any good in the snow. I'd just find a cheap, rotted out old truck, and drive the hell out of it when there's snow/salt on the ground.
