Default lq4 + 212/218 + 243s

My heavy slow truck got tuned today on a friend's mustang dyno.

05 2500hd, 212/218 cam, stock 243 heads, 8.1 injectors, e fans, stock everything else (including manifolds).

It didn't do anything impressive, but I didn't really expect it to. Eager to get it to the track and see the whole story.

Not to shabby! Surely you picked up 40-50hp over stock. I would really love to do this to my 2500 yukon xl.

I'm curious to know how it tows in comparison to stock. I'm thinking about giving my 2500HD the same treatment. stock EVERYTHING except for an intake, 212/218 110 lsa cam, milled 317 heads and a muffler.

Thanks guys. I'll have to let you know on the towing part of it, right now it's still on the small tires and the trailer is covered in snow!

Honestly though if it doesn't make a noticeable difference I'm probably going to need to re-gear. I've been hoping the extra power would act as a nice band-aid for the problem 4.10s and 35s cause.

What is lsa on that cam? A 4.56~4.88 gear and long tubes would definitely help. I have found the tighter 106~110 lsa's pull the best on the heavy trucks if a guy can handle the chop at idle. Still on a truck that heavy you are going to be hard pressed to feel a huge difference with 40~50 added HP at pk. You need a good tq boost in the 2800~4500 range to really notice it.

I'd probably go 4.88 if I ever do it. It's on a 114 lsa, realistically I probably should've had a custom spec'd cam but I figured for the titanic and stock manifolds etc that the off the shelf comp would be sufficient.

If it's on 114 you are definitely giving up some mid range tq but with all that weight an extra 20-30 lbs might not be felt that much anyway. 114 will also idle smoother if that's what you are looking for.
