I think it's more of a 2wd EC thing...

Because I'm a CC I had the 82 inch Aluminum DS, I ran my truck up to 115mph once on the freeway and the truck started to vibrate badly. When I finally stuck my head underneath to find out what it was I saw that my DS had flexed itself to where it was rubbing hard against one of my crossmembers...Luck saved me *** and nothing else. So I dyno'd in second gear until I swapped out my DS to a steel one. I now have a 2-piece steel DS and I've dyno'd in 3rd up to 140 with no problems and have hit 165 mph with it on the street and DS felt good. I'm not condoning any of that stuff...just found out the hard way that the Excessive Diameter of the Aluminum DS makes it a liability the faster you spin it.

i'm with ya on this bro, i wasnt so lucky but lucky it didnt tear nothing up so far, i do have some driveline issues but i think its in the gears, i'll find out this weekend job permitting!!!

spoolin ? on your 2 piece, does it sit centerline or is it off set just a bit, i had my 2 piece installed and from looking at it, it doesnt look like its centered in the thresh hole .

also when i back up feels like the gears are binding.

sorry didnt mean to get off topic, or ***** your post

It's centerline, I also swapped in a 4L80E so in all I had two cross members fabbed up, one for the tail shaft of the tranny and another to support the carrier bearing. no drive line noises on my part.

thats what i wanted to hear, thanks, reason i ask is i had a 2 piece to start off, then a 1 piece was installed, ( dont ask) i know big mistake, anyway when the 1 piece blew apart, i had a 2 piece installed, but after looking at the work the drive shaft center line if offset to one side ( the bracket wasnt or doesnt seem like it was center thus making the carrier bearing off set) basically not dead center.. thus maybe causing my drive line issues, anyway i will grind it off and recenter it and weld it up this weekend.. glad i asked i was thinking my rearend gears may be have screwed, cause of the binding when backing up, we'll see after i get drive shaft back on center , thanks again much appreciated
