Default CalSpeed built LQ9 6.0 SCSB goes 475 rwhp today on mustang dyno

Had customer/friend PT User: RickLowpez SBSC (04 I think) on the mustang dyno today.

He brought me a bare LQ9 used shortblock last week. He had a 231/235 camshaft he had gotten from another shop (cam specs appeared to be on XE-R standard lobes with a 111lsa, pretty standard mid sized cam).

Speced a combo for his needs and got it assembled compelte for him: He dropped it in the truck this weekend and then brought it back in for the dyno tune.

CalSpeed & Performance built stock bottom end LQ9:

Details

-CalSpeed Fully Ported Fast 90mm Intake Manifold /w LS2 90mm TB.
-PRC Stg 2.5 5.3L Cylinder heads /w Gold Double Springs & Tit. Retainers (64cc)
-ARP Head Studs /w GM MLS 5-layer head gaskets 6.0/6.2
-CalSpeed Moly Pushrods, setup for approx .080 preload
-ARP Rod Bolts on stock shortblock
-Melling Oil Pump /w LS2 timing chain
-231/235 camshaft degreed, Stock rockers/rails, LS7 lifters
-FatBoy customer built cold air intake /w 85mm truck MAF
-Pacesetter 1-3/4" Longtube Headers /w 3" Y-pipe, Open Cutout
-4l60e /w shiftkit & servos, Yank SS3600 Converter
-Stock 10-bolt rearend /w 3.73's, Stock 20" 08 NBS Wheels/
-EV1 42lb Injectors (swapped to EV1 injector ends)
-Swapped water pump and idler mod for car intake, dual electric fans

I'll scan and upload the dyno sheet tomorrow. Also some pics of the truck/engine bay on the dyno.

This was on a Mustang Dyno 1100SE which has consistently given dynojet comparable numbers and not read low like most other mustang dynos. Ive done several back to back dynos on this dyno and the Dynojet 248 we use and the #'s are almost identical. Just wanted to note this.

475 rwhp S@ 6400 rpm, holding 470 rwhp till 6600, 415 rwtq
#'s were SAE corrected. Uncorrected # was less than 1 hp difference (474 rwhp) as it was a very nice 65 degrees outside during dyno pulls)

Converter locked, 28 deg timing, 91 octane, 12.9:1 a/f on wideband.

I had a few suggestions to get another 1/2 sec at the track. I think its got a 11.9x in it right now as it sits but mid 11's would be doable with some more changes. Then spray it into the 10's on the stock bottom end...

I'd like to see him go to some 1-7/8" better headers, another 8 degrees on the camshaft I/E, yella terra rockers, true duals or dual 3" /w a flowmaster merge y-pipe going to 4" cutout and single 3.5" exhaust after the cutout. Also 4.30 gears /w a truetrac etc...

and get Alberts 125lb *** to drive it at the track.

Different version of short belting it. Pull the ac belt and bypass the ps so you dont have to waste power spinning those. Its been shown to be good for about 10-15rwhp.
