Default Standard Shift Dodge Cummins Question>>>

I have a friend that has a highly modded Dodge Cummins truck but is stock (slow ***) shifter is killing him when he's racing. Does anyone make a speed shifter and short throw shifter for a 99 Dodge Diesel??? Thanks...

P.S.-- Even if all you know is somewhere I could ask people that amy know would be helpful...

With the short throw shifter he will be able to shift faster but will the clutch and and everything else allow him too..????

I know you can get them at summit, they are 265.95. here is a link.

As for the other part of your question, the shifter will help in making the "throw" of the shift shorter, but if he gets too wild with it, I would forsee a synchro replacement in his near future.

Yeah it will shorten the throws, but the transmission is definitely not made to be shifted fast. JBlack is right about the synchros. The gears in that trans are heavy and they wont like being banged too hard.

Another downside is that every time he has to shift gears, he loses boost. That is the good thing about the auto, you have it matted the whole time and never lose any boost.

I have seen a guy run a 12.6 with a 6 speed before though, so it can be done. What gear is he launching in at the track?
