Default Help: Tranny hanging in first when over 5k rpms

When I try to get on it in my 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T it always gets hung in first gear if i take the rpms over 5k. But if I very Slightly ease the gas before 5k it will shift just fine and i can then get back on it. Are the dodge automatic trannys known for this or is my tranny just bad? Any ideas on simple fixes (new fluid/good fluids). The truck only has 38k miles on it so I would assume the tranny would be good for a long time, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for any advice.

every dodge ive driven has done this . my buddys 318 98 ram , my friends 01 360 ram , this girls r/t dak . someone said that since the trannys go so easy that the wheel sensor and the rpms arent matchin speeds and its revin out higher to catch up but i think thats some bullshit . its almost like driving a diesel ..

and a smart choice on dodge trannys get a aftermarket tranny cooler asap they help them a lot

The problem is the governor pressure solenoid and or/ Governor pressure sensor. They go out easy and they can't ready the line pressures right on the 1-2 shift.

The tranny is fine.
