Default 58RFE hybrid transmission

After blowing 10 545RFE transmission's, I think I finally found the answer. I wreck 9 out of the 10 during last year's race season. I only went through one this year. After the last 545 went out last June, I took the new 6.7 CTD 68RFE tranny part's and incorperated them into the 545 case. Thus the 58RFE. I have 4 more scheduled events to go to. After that, I'll pull the tranny this winter and see if the internals held up to my expectations.

What failures were you having with the 545RFE? Also what is different with the parts in the 48RFE that makes it stronger? I have been away from building general transmissions for a few years now. I am not familiar with the 545 or the 48RFE however I did build a couple 45RFE units. Just curious. Vince

Well the 48RE is used in the Cummins powered Rams with a 5.9L. It is not used at all in this hybrid trans.

The 545RFE is the same exact transmission as the 45RFE, but the PCM programming is different and gives it the double overdrive 5th gear.

The 68RFE is used in the new Cummins Rams with the 6.7L engine.

I know that the weak links in the 545 are the 2nd prime gear and 4th gear.
