Default Which would be quicker?

Through the 1/4 mile, a 3200 lb s10 with a 400 hp sbc or, a 4200lb fullsize with a 500 hp bbc. I already have the bbc from my jet boat if I was to go with a fullsize, but have always wanted a sb powered v8 s10 as well. what do you guys think. also is there a formula for this?

Yeah, power to weight ratio is of course weight divided by hp. S10 should be quicker.

The S10 should be faster in theroy but it also depends on which engine makes more power, and torque under the curve. I have a 3800LB W/driver RC4x4 S10 with a 190HP 4.3L, and have raced a few fullsize ~5000LB 5.3L 4x4 trucks and got beat every time. The 190HP V6 in the 3800LB truck should have a slight edge over the 290HP 5.3 in the fullsize trucks but it doesn't.

do the fullsize with the big block, you will have more room to work on it and it will be more comfortable to drive IMO

True, but its a totally different engine. The 4.3 is a great torque motor in stock form but doesn't make a whole lot above 4000. And you already know what a 5.3 is good for. Either way, let the fun begin!

Yah Im really not impressed at all with the 4.3L it's a dog, no power anywhere, and uses alot of fuel. Total pice of **** I just had the intake gaskets replaced, and now it has a bad lifter Gm is a fuckface for not offering a LS1 in those trucks or at least a LS1 style v6.

I know. They have so much great technology, six speeds - manual and auto with paddle shift. Ls motors, now 6.2's, blowers and on and on. They just refuse to put them in vehicles that the average person would enjoy driving. I wish they would give us what we want; they wouldn't be in this mess! I hate 'em all!
