Default Went to track today

Before I post times, let me say, there was absolutely no track prep- no vht, no mopping and cleaning up fluids, no spray, no nothing.

It was diesel drags day and the track didn't do any prepping- not sure why...??

I saw big rigs spinning all the way out to the 330' mark and these were trucks running 17 to 20 seconds. Motorcycles were even spinning past the 330' mark. I heard one Camaro laying rubber almost out the eighth.

Talked with a Mustang owner who said he couldn't break 13's when he normally runs mid-13's. No traction.

Also, things were kinda nuts- not the normal 'track etiqutte' that I'm used t, but still fun to go.

Temp 57*/48% humidity elev. 552ft.
Best run-
R/T....174
60'...2.362
330...6.432
1/8...9.797
MPH...73.66
1000...12.47
1/4...15.066
MPH...92.26

Bummed I didn't break into the 14's, but I really think it was because of track conditions. On every run, I spun, and sometimes bad. My trap speed went up almost 5mph, but my 60' times stayed the same...Overall time down 3/10's.

So, on my way home, I took my frustrations out on a QC Hemi who thought he was gonna take my lane, twice.

Oh well, time to buy more go fast parts...

I hate it when order isn't enforced at the track but your times really aren't that out of line for a first time out! Get that 60' down just a few 1/100th's and 14's are yours! Congrats!

You need to start investing for some DRs or slicks..60' is where it's at.

Sucks the track was don't sweat it though..14's there for sure with a good track.

you just need to get the 60's down and your there, comparing your/my old time i can see by the 330' mark quicker and and going alot faster up top! how many miles did you put on the tune so far?

Well, people weren't 'being bad', just not sure where they should have been and when. So the track guys were gettin' testy. Not a big deal though.

Thanks man. I was hoping to break 14's, THEN worry about DR's....

I know, I was thinking I'd cut 1/10 off the 60', then another 3 or 4 through the middle. I was figuring I'd run around 91mph, or so. So that's right on, just need a few more tenths.

I put about 150 miles on it before the track.

This will be my last time out this year. Winter time will be time to work on upgrade tranny w/ shift kit, plate, servo and synthetic fluid. Then get a truetrack and 4.10's out back.
I'll def need drags radials then.

The Mustang guy I mentioned, he said he lowered his DR's to 9psi, and STILL couldn't hook-up!!! Wouldn't they be flat at that point???

It's really a bummer that the track wasn't prepped. Didn't anyone say anything to the track officials? Not only being unfair to all the racers, it's down right unsafe for the faster cars and trucks.

Yeah, someone did. I agree, it's one thing if a 14- to 17 second car gets a little loose, it's another when a 10-second one, or a 9-second bike does it.
Those cars/trucks are making so much more power and there's less room for error.

In talking to the tech guy (where you resgister to run), I don't think they (the track staff) were too thrilled about the truck event and (probably) felt it was a bunch fo slow trucks. No need for track prep since most won't need water or vht.

Funny thing though, there was a semi running low 13's! His burnouts were from the water to about the 200' mark!
