Had fun at the track last night. Drove a Vette for a friend of mine. It was the first time I drove the Vette at the track and the first I ever tried to launch a 6 Speed with 450RWHP on radial tires. 1st run timing equipment fked up and didn't record a time, 2nd run was 12.71 @ 117.6mph and 3rd run was 12.57 @ 116.9mph (shifted to 4th a little early). I launch the car real easy and shifted quick but no where near banging gears. I know a better driver could have got it to go a little faster. Judging from the MPH it should go 11s on some drag radials or slicks.
I was also able to make one pass in my wife's '07 Toyota Camry SE V6. I had it in sport shift mode and bumped the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift but still managed a 14.5 @ 96mph. It was hot and humid, I think in better weather and shifting without hitting the rev limiter the Camry is capable of a 14.3x. Maybe next time I take the Camry to the track, I'll run with with only a 1/8th tank of fuel (was full last night), remove the spare tire, jack, portable electric air pump, jumper cables and the rest of the crap my wife has in the trunk.
It was a b!tch wearing a helmet in the Vette.

If he has a good clutch and beefed up diff...next time keep the throttle around 4400-5000 rpm and do a long slip while you press the gas to the floor. That sixty foot will drop to at least a high 1.5 if your on ET Streets around 13-15 psi. You will know when you are in the good sixty foot zone by the seat pressure on your back. Don't power shift 1-2 so you don't get wheel spin. I ran a 11.33 @ 120 mph & 11.37 @ 123 MPH on the stock motor with H\C (434 RWHP). I was on stock 342 gear so you should get a couple tenths + better with as gear and the additional hp (450).
Throtte @ 5000 rpm

For a burnout, hold 5000 rpm, take the slack out of the drivetrain, dump the clutch and move your foot quickly to the brake. Hold till you get a good bit of smoke.

can't find the 11.33 vid ??
33.37 run. A stupid dry 2nd burnout.
The Miata in the vid had an LS1 motor. Nasty sounding !!

He has only done motor work to the car so far. I told him he needs a set of tires, gear and a good clutch. I've been 1.47 60ft in a '95 Trans AM with auto trans......can't wait to drive the vette when I can launch it like you described above. We are planning to go back to the track on a T-n-T day so he can get some seat time in his car at the track. Then he saw a Vette that a friend of mine is doing an STS Kit on for a customer and another Vette at the track with a procharger. I would not be surprised if his Vette goes into the shop in the next couple weeks for clutch, diff, and some sort of forced induction. Hope I get to drive it some more....lol.

Friends at the track told me people were joking and laughing about the Camry when they saw me pull up to the line. They were speechless after it clicked off the 14.5 @ 96mph. Hmmm.....75hp shot of nitrous next time.....LOL......it would be sweet to make a high 13sec pass in a Camry.

I'm not going to try launching his car any harder than I did Friday night, until he does some work to the clutch\rear. I've seen Vette guys launch to hard at that track and shoot a half shaft out from under the car. He is also on the Vette forums and is researching what he needs to do to 60ft his car to it's fullest potential or close to it. Thanks for the suggestions/advice.
