Default Well that was incredibly humbling, first track outting 1/8 mile

First time I've been able to take my turbo truck to the track. Swapped on the slicks (28x12.5x16 MT) and skinnies to see what it would do. Unfortunately last week I hit a possum and I think my intercooler may have more than cosmetic damage. So anyway best pass was a 8.36@96.2 with a 2.3 60'. Weather was ok, idk the DA but 65% humidity, 74 degree temp, and 98 degree IAT's. I'm only able to make 10lbs of peak boost now so I'm gonna have to start pressure testing and looking for damage (usually making 16lbs). Converter is only flashing to 2700rpms, so with my cam and turbo combo this thing is an absolute turd until I'm in 2nd gear, including burnouts.

So for now it's looking like a converter re-stall (maybe more in the 3600-3800 range), intercooler piping inspection, and I may start looking into a new lower duration (234/228 current) camshaft.

For comparison sake my Corvette is 5k clutch slip resulting in 6.50-6.6x @106-110 with a 1.50-1.65 60'

Thats shitty, must be a pretty big leak. What converter are you running now?

Circle D 2c I'm gonna call Chris tomorrow and see what he thinks. I really should change this cam out for something more efficient, but I'd rather pull the converter

Well the MPH is there for 10psi, but needs some help getting that rig out the gate. You'll get it. Will make the good passes feel that much better, keep your head up!

That pt88 isnt helping you any...I would (and did) look into a smaller turbo, or at least, one that is a better match for our engines.

Are you referencing boost for the wastegate off of the compressor housing? Cause if you're making the boost there but not at the manifold, then its definitely a leak. That PT88 has more than enough airflow to overcome a little boost leak, but not if the WG reference is before the leak. And like Richard said....its not gonna be a monster out of the hole either way lol. Lot of compressor to turn..

Low boost wastegate is referenced to compressor (6-7psi), high boost waste gate is vented to atmosphere (roughly 16psi). I may try a 100 shot outta of the hole, tried a 50 shot for the first 2 seconds to try and help spool and didn't go worth a **** off the line.

Were you getting creep and had to add the second gate?

Thats a lot of turbo for a 5.3, so the dual gates dont really surprise me. It makes boost control somewhat interesting though, since the gates work off back pressure controlling the opening of both is more complicated, especially since they have different references and therefor cracking pressures and opening rates. I would run a dual gate configuration with the second gate on a controller that only activates at a high pressure so it stays closed unless you need it, while the primary gate as its own controller or suitable reference setup. Basically, always have control of one so you know for sure what the other is doing.

Single wastegate on my setup. In non-actvated scenario the boost solenoid for low boost (referenced off compressor housing) gives me roughly 6-7lbs, or solenoid energized high boost (vents bottom wastegate port to atmosphere) is always about 15.5-16lbs. Sorry for the misleading above.

The high boost came off the shift extension and carried through 2nd gear above 5k rpms. I'm shifting at 6k and had no issues with the trans or converter in that aspect. My dyno shows the problem of my lower rpm nutkicking. I've got to get my Vette ready for Hot Rod's Top Speed shootout next weekend, then I'm gonna go over the truck with a fine tooth comb.
