Default Time for new drag wheels/tires

It appears that my 16x10 custom steel wheels no longer clear the calipers after installing new brake pads. Difficult to see in the pic due to the reflection, but there is about a 1/8" groove at the outside corner of the calipers. Also noticing that my M & H Nostalgia slicks are rubbing the upper control arm brackets, likely during squats.

Seems that there are more 6 lug options available now, so I am looking for a suitable wheel/tire combo. What do I need to run to clear dual beadlocks?(wheel size, brake mods, etc).

Should I stick with the same tire height (31.4"). 3.73 gears in the rear.

Here's some launch video with the M&H slicks.

Well, I don't think 17" wheels are an option due to lack of tire choices. Looks like a 16 should clear those brackets with about 1/4" less backspacing....5.25" rather than 5.5" Will stick out a touch though. Inner beadlocks are definitely not an option with 16s.

There are several of us on here that have gone to a GMT400 front caliper and rotor on the rear to run 15" wheels without grinding like with the S10 calipers. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...ersion-532068/

Going to a 15" wheel will give you a multitude of tire and wheel choices.

As for the rubbed control arm mount... it could be the slick growing on the top end. If that's the case, you could benefit from a shorter slick (along with lower effective gearing) or try out a radial slick for a consistent diameter the entire pass. There are several 30" tall bias and radial slicks out for 15" wheels.

M&H says there is no way the slicks would grow that much at 124 MPH. That's why I was thinking the only other time it could happen would be on the squat, particularly because the tire shape is distorted at that time. Also looks like there is some wobble in the slo-mo video.

Wasn't aware of the GMT700 caliper swap....will look into that.

what about the M&H 390 for 17's? Will the DR cut it or do you need full slick?

Can't really go any wider than the current slicks which are 11.5' tread(actually measures 12"/300mm) and 13.6" section width unless I want them to stick out and inch or 2. There is a bit of spin with the slicks...not sure how sticky the DRs would be.

Not really keen on going to smaller brakes unless they were dual calipers, or losing the parking brake....wanting to stay semi street legal.

never heard of a GMT700, now the body style before teh GMT800 is teh GMT400 aka 454ss body style

to the OP you could just shave the caliper some to fit

as for sway that can be fixed with air pressure in some cases, running to low will cause alot of sway
