Default slower than normal?

Took my truck to the local 1/8 mile for its first time. 03 rcsb 4.8 60e 3.42 k&n and dual flowmasters full wieght 1/2 tank of 93. Best time was 11.3 @64mph 2.8 60ft. Is this about average or is something wrong with my truck.

I would say nothing is out of the ordinary. Especialy if the DA wasn't very good. Bad DA can easily take a few tenths from the average.

I am sure you DA couldn't have been great with humidity so that would explain why you thought you were a bit slower then you could have been.

If you are looking to go fast you have two logical options. Force feed that little guy or swap your self a 6.0. A few guys will mod the 4.8 but unless going FI you are starting from way behind with the 4.8 and a N/A build. Not sure of your plans but you have certainly found a great place to learn how to make your truck fast if that is the goal.

Yea my plans are a low budget competitive dd. Its not my first one, but my first ls powered. I'm pretty close to meeting my plans. I got most the parts just got to find time to put it together. And wait on my stock stuff to wear out.

That 60' seems way off to me. It should be be that slow at all. They sai every .1 in the 60' is worth .2 in the 1/4 mile, but I don't know how that relates to the 1/8th mile.

Yea something isn't right, there are factors that will make my time different like location and weather but not by that much. Before I started this thread I Googled and found 4.3 owner and ec z71 5.3 owner claming a average of 10.7 1/8 mile. Gave me reason to believe something was wrong. This was somebody's work truck, they drove around handing out foreclosure notices by the paperwork that was there when I got it. Mileage is only 133,xxx. No signs of any serious repairs done to the drivetran. The truck pulls but not till about 4k rpms. Another thing is I ran 4 times that night. That was my best, with 20 psi in rear tires I pulled a 11.7 and 11.6. Aired them back up and ran a 11.4.

Were you having traction issues off the line? That would be the only reason to let air out of the tires.

Air pressure is going to be your friend. As you found out I doubt you will be having any traction issues at street pressure and the extra air is going to help top speed. It is possible something needs tweaked such as a tune up or sensor causing some issues but LS engines like to spin. On top of that you have a tiny little guy under the hood that doesn't make any torque. That is why you feel so much stronger above 4000 rpm. Hell a stock 6.0 loves a 3600 stall.
