Default Ran 12.8 with no posi and bouncing off rev limiter

I took my truck to the track lastnight and my first run was a 13.0. The truck backfired and bogged at the line for a good while then took off. The second run was 13.1 but the mph went up 1(107mph). By the time I got to my third run, the truck was warmed up pretty good, so no backfires or bogging. I ran 12.88@107mph. All my 60ft times sucked, they were all 2.03+. The truck weighed in at 4000 and my posi wasn't working. I bounced off the rev limiter on all runs due to my Autometer tach reading slow. My rev limit was set to 6800 and my shift light was set to 6500, but I kept hitting the rev limit before the shift light came on. I'm gonna throw in a 12bolt rear and detroit locker soon and hopefully get someone to help me tune the truck. It was completely untuned when I ran. I just picked some random number to set the timing to and threw on a carb from my friend's big block. I'm hoping for low 12's when everything is done right.

very nice considering you had no tuning or traction. You ought to be able to get at very low 12's out of it, maybe even 11.99 when everythings worked out.

Hey, congrats on the times, Adam! Hitting a 12.88 without tuning shows a lot of potential. With some tuning and a different rear end, low 12's should be within easy reach!

Wouldn't it just be easier to set the trans up to shift by itself?

It probably would work out better. I think I'm gonna try that.

what squirters are in the carb?
sounds to me you have a lil lean issue transitioning to WOT, which is somewhat normal.
this sounds like the problem to me since you state when the truck was more warm it did not do this. wont be as lean once everything is heated up.
been following your other thread, figured id stick with it.
nice times, considering you still had tuning issues.
stock manifolds, or headers?

I'm running a TH350 trans.

I'm not sure about anything in this carb, the owner had it tuned by someone else while it was on his big block. I just know it runs pretty good after it's warmed up. I'm running longtube headers.
