I know Banish talks about this in one of his books/dvds. If the goal is maximizing torque output and keeping the engine alive, timing at peak torque should reflect the higher air mass (read: lower than at peak power). Its all in the tune...
its not the early torque its the torque on the shifts that will spit a rod. when cranking boost up on stock rods you will need to give up torque in order to make them survive.

youre better off shooting for power from 6-7300 then having lower range when cresting the 1000rwhp mark

regardless of what books tell you or etc, when making something live at these power levels that was never intended to do so. you need to do things differently then what engineers and books tell you. Real world experience has more heart here then what a book says from a person or persons who havent done it

you lean it out even more and youll start torching that block and breaking more ****

richen her up to 11.4 target and watch the MPH roll out, youll get alot more time out of a stocker doing so or any built motor

11.7 on E85 is dangerous IMHO unless your talking single digit boost numbers

only give it timing that the plugs tell you otherwise youll be here posting up how you broke another motor

i have a LY6 living with over a 1000rwhp for this whole past season with around 50 track passes all shifting at 7100-7300 and crossing traps from 7300 to 7500

Personally I like 11.1-11.3 on even E10. But I am spraying meth also.

.78 lamba is better suited which is 11.4 range
.72 is 10.5 which isn't any better then the 11.7 when on e85

Loss of power and higher egts for no other reason but to waste fuel

Just saying there's nothing about this stuff that can't be explained... I'm going to assume you mean boost spikes on a shift cause the torque surge?

What do engineers know anyway...just a bunch of loser ******** who went to school. All the good pistons, rods and turbos grow on trees.
