How much of a difference would 3.73s make on his times? Are you launching in 4 hi?

Yes, I brought this back from the dead...

If you are breaking the tires loose in 4 wheel drive and killing them that bad in 2wd then you need to work on the launch. Stop pre-loading the converter so hard. You are far from making enough power to kill even the stock tires that bad. Your times aren't terrible for a 3.42 geared truck. 3.73 gear would be a big gain in your 1/8 mile time and even bigger gain in the quarter mile. More gear would be probably one of the best mods you could do. How tall of a tire are you running? (stock 265's?)
