My first time on the track

Well wuz up ya, just here needing some advice, because in 2 weeks im about to race my truck for the first time and need some advice what are the best ways to get a good jump in my truck and if any of ya have any advice i would really appriciate it.
Mods: 2004 chevy single cab, short bed, flaireside-black
K and N, Short tube headers, NO cats, 2 gibson bullets, MSD sparkplug wires, converter, 373 gears, positive attraction.

WhiteChevy3 posted a good link for launching a truck. Some people may suggest removing your tailgate, spare tire, etc. for weight savings. Don't do this. Go to the track with full weight. I went to the track one time and had no traction with my tailgate removed. The best I ran in the 1/8 mile that night was a 10.2...with only my Corsa catback. I came back the next night WITH my tailgate and had much better traction. The best I ran that night was 9.85 @ 73 MPH. Post your times when you come back from the track. I'm interested in what your truck runs with the mods you have.
