OK since you guys are on this topic, the stock 4L80E in my truck has a rathar loose converter. Also, when I mash the brakes, I can put the throttle to the floor and not spin the tires. So what is the best technique in this situation? I'm not trying to set the track on fire, I just go to fun nights for something to do.

To do a burnout on a stock converter persay, just mash WOT and immediately after put your left foot on the brake and control it so it won't move forward but yet not putting too braking force so the tires won't spin. It's a balance.

After much experimentation, I just use flash stall... but the reason for that is the **** PCM... IF I do a burnout or stall at the tree the PCM pulls timing and my times go in the dumper... my best times are, avoid the waterbox, dry hop, and flash stall at the tree..

yeah, I know but that doesnt work in this truck. I believe that it has something to do with the monster rear discs. That's not what I am concerned about though, I am more interested in this discussion of launch techniques. I can't really afford to waste precious rubber on my no-brand-name tires.

i guess just go to the track and see, if when you flash stall you start to spin crazy i would brake stall to mid 1k rpms and mash it once the light turns and flash the rest of the way. its probably a personal preference thing based on if you want to feather the throttle any or if you just want to floor it the whole way down and be done with it

Your posts aren't making sense. If you have traction. Brake Stall it as high as it will go and you'll have a hell of a launch.

My truck likes it more with a high stall. At first I always did what everybody say, that the PI verter works better flashing from down low.......I launched at 1500 and then floored it at green. My first 12 sec pass was when I tried it with a high stall. My first 4 runs, launching at 1500 were a 13.0@101.xx with a 60ft of 1.80's, consistent runs. On the last run (which was a hot lap), I stalled it to like 2500 or 2600 and got my 12.84@101.7 with a 60ft of 1.77.
That's when I changed my launch techniche. I know that high stalling heats up the tranny or verter while in stage, so I try to be the first to pre-stage and wait till the other car gets staged too, then I brake stall it.
But of course every truck behaves their own way, so I say give it a try for both to see which one she likes better.
