So, yeah i dug this up from the dead, what were you guys stock 4.8 times - bone stock? I ran mine (i have some added weight) and ran some "go home and cry in a corner" slow times, just seeing how a very bone stock 4.8 with 3.23 rcsb is supposed to run.

Probably not going to run very good with those tall gears. I ran my rcsb 5.3 all stock with CAI and cat back exhaust with factory 3.42 gears and G80. I think my time was right at 10 seconds if not a little under in the 1/8th. So with a smaller motor and taller gears you will be a little off that time I would imagine.

What were your times? Im guessing they should be around mid 15's with a rcsb.

My truck ran a 17.1 @ 80 1/4 and IIRC 11.x @ 65 1/8.
I sat down today and came up with a list of things that i can remove from the truck, whether stock items, stereo equip, etc, and i have almost 400 lbs of weight worth of just removable stuff. 100 lbs of that extra weight is in the wheels. i'm thinking with the stock wheels and pull that extra weight, i should get at least a 16.5. This is my first go around with a "heavier" vehicle. In my integra just having a 150 lb tool bag in the trunk caused me to run .8 slower, so not really sure how linear the weight removal will be in my 1/4 time with a stock truck.

Yeah I think your gears are really hurting you. That mile per hour is slow as *****. I think I ran around 75 in the 1/8th IIRC but its been a while so I would have to dig up the time slip to verify. What was your 60' like 2.5ish?

yea its horrible all the way around, embarrasing horrible. Mods start as soon as Christmas is over with. 60' was 2.6, i'm trying to get an idea of what times should be with a rwd v8. My integra was running a 15.1 @97 with stock internals, just bolt ons, those cars have zip for tq and a lot of high rpm hp (8200 factory redline). I'm guessing high 90's with a truck would be mid 13's?

Yeah thats a terrible 60. Mine was like 2.2 and I was spinning a little bit to boot. My first mod would be 3.73's or 4.10's I think. This will help your 60, your trap speed, and your overall et. Search around here for moded times. I know people are running mid 14's with bolt on 4.8s. Or you could just turbo it, that seems to be the real popular thing to do with the 4.8's these days. Lots of people making real good power with them.

The overall plan is a 6.0, i'm keeping the 4.8 though, it and the 4l60e is going in a bagged 86 toyota single cab i have been building. The only thing i will put in the 4.8 is a cam, other than that all the bolt ons will be used for the 6.0, this way when i get the 6.0 i already have the bolt ons i need for it. I have contacted a vendor on here "rons machine" and talked to him about some 4.11 gears. In january i plan to put some pacesetter headers and pacesetter y on the truck, get some e-fans and rear gears. Black Bear is supposed to come to New Orleans in Feb, i will get a tune then, and do a few other bolt on mods. I would like to see a 14.xx before i pull it out for the 6.0. That's a 2-3 second gain but at these sluggish times, gain should be relatively easy.

Everyones time i see posting for a bolt on 4.8 are high 13's or 14's on average, and claims of mid 15's stock, just curious how they got these numbers because it looks like they ended up with Wednesday cars and i ended up with the Friday car, haha, while working on it they said its F*** this S*** o'clock and went home.

More than likely they have lower gearing from the factory than you and are probably running a smaller/ligher wheel/tire combo. Judging by your pic it looks like you have 20's at least so that is a lot heavier than the lighter mag wheels that come stock and the extra height means your high gears seem even higher. Most guys with 20's run about a 31" tall tire, for comparrison I run a 29" tall tire on my stock mag wheels and I bet my wheels are about half the weight of most 20's. So lighter rotating mass/shorter tire/lower gear = quicker in the quarter.

yea, LTZ 20's, not sure what rims weighs but the tire is 38 lbs - found that online. Tire is 275/45 so tire is 29.7" tall. I weighed one of my stock 16 and tire combo and it was right at 60 lbs. Guessing the LTZ's with tires are somewhere around 85-90 lbs each.

My ext cab 4.8 with 3.42s went 16.3 at full street weight plus my all my crap for work in it, spare tire, tailgate, steel wheels. With a k&N, longtubes, and wheatley tune, lighter aluminum wheels and some weight reduction it was running consistent mid 14s. Best of 14.4 but mostly 14.5s and 14.6s. With the same mods on tahoe 20s(heavy)wheels, it went 15.1 at street weight with the 3.42s. I put in 3.73s and a locker and that helped out alot, but never went back to the track. The 4.8s love low gears, that along with a higher stall will get it moving.
