Post First time at the track in my truck

My impala club was hosting a drag racing event at Dallas Raceway on Friday night, and I decided to take my truck down the track a few times to see how it would do. It is an 05 extended cab with the LM7. Stock transmission, 3.23 gears and 30" tires. Only mods are a Wheatley 87 octane tune, intake, and a 2.5" Magnaflow that exits before the rear tire so I wasn't expecting much. I had a box of tools in the bed chained down just ahead of the tailgate, there was a bunch of stuff inside the truck and more than half of a tank of gas, so who knows how much it weighed. The weather was in the mid-low 50s with 75-80% humidity and 30.1" barometric pressure. No tire spin on either run with 2.4 sixty foot times no matter if I launched from idle or tried to stall it up a bit. I manually shifted the 1-2 @ ~5800 and held it in 2nd through the traps.
My timeslips are still out in the truck, but it ran a 15.8@88 then a 15.4@258 Obviously there was an issue with the timing in that lane. I'm not sure if I should count the 15.4 at all since others noticed a significant difference between the lanes.

Here is what my truck dyno'd

I know my truck needs more gear! I have been very tempted to pull the 4.10s and Eaton posi out of my impala SS and put that in my truck.

The truck ran about what I expected based on my experiences with impalas, but I was really hoping it would surprise me and run a little bit better.

Count the 15.4, it's ok.

Times are about right for your mods, a little gearing and removing the excess baggage will certainly help.

Best i did with cam was 15.03

I was out there on Friday night. I didn't see your truck run, but saw all the Impalla SSs out there. I didn't get there until about 9:30 and stayed until 11:30. I was in a silver Trailblazer SS. Was a great night to race.

Who were the guys that were with your group in the rental car 2010 camaros? The taller guy looked very familiar, but I couldn't remember his name or place where I had met him in the past.

I only went down the track twice. Here's a picture my wife took on one of the runs.

And if you saw this jacket, then you saw me.

That TBSS was surprisingly quick! The guys in the rental camaros and Hertz Corvette were impala guys who flew in from New York, Connecticut, and I think Indiana. There were others who flew and drove in from California, Florida, Colorado, and other far away places. The guy in the V6 Challenger brought his 8 second twin turbo impala SS, but his tow rig was giving him problems and he left the car at the hotel. There were others who were planning on coming in to race, but they blew their stuff up getting ready for this or had other last minute issues. One is an 8 second blower impala from Vegas, one is a mid 9 second blower car with an aluminum Donovan block from Indiana, there were a few who were planning on bringing their 10 second naturally aspirated cars too, but life sometimes steps in.

I'm going to try to get back out there again to get a few more runs in. There are a few mods that I'd like to try next time, plus maybe I could take a little weight out of it.

I have considered swapping on some much shorter drag radials on spare wheels. Putting 26" tires on would be just like swapping to 3.73 gears.

The 3.23s will be great if/when I put a turbo on the truck. The only other mod that I really would like to do is swapping in a 6L80/90E to give me the best of both worlds
