first time to the track

took my truck to the track for the first time today, kinda suprised by how it runs, granted its not fast by any means, but im impressed
my best pass was 15.05 @ 93.59 with a 2.39 60', if definantly needs gears and a convertor, shifts into 3rd bout 30' before the end.
truck is a 99 ecsb 5.3, shorty headers, stock replacement magnaflow muffler, built tranny, tune, stock air intake with a cut box, running on 20" wheels and 275/45 tires, has 3.42 gears
im planning on putting a set of 4.10s, 3000ish convertor, and a different muffler, id like to get the truck down to the low 14s, would that be possible the gear/convertor swap?

is there a factory tb that is better than stock and will bolt up? I read somewhere the tbss intake doesnt really help down low, and that seems to be where im lacking. although if I find a bare one, will my sensors and rails bolt up to it?
im gonna look into some longtubes also, maybe do the lts at the same time as the convertor and gear so I can have the tune done all at the same time.
did your truck have a cai or stock?

If you run again without changing gears or tire heights, try placing the gear selctor in 2nd to hold 2nd gear through the traps. It might be enough to sneak into the 14's.
You dont want a TBSS torque converter, that would make you run slower if anything, If youw ant a stock TC taht improves acceleration, you would want a TC from a Trailblazer that originally have the Inline 6 cylinder. I did a similar thing in my Vortec 350 truck, I used a 4.3 V6 TC and it gave about an extra 1000rpm of stall speed. Not bad for free, but if you want serious gains, go with a good quality performance TC. You get what you pay for.

The stock cam in these trucks don't really pull past 5500. Also, my truck on 30" tires with 3.73s shifts into third a few hundred feet before the traps. If you want better pickup down low look into those longtube headers and a decent torque converter. Definitely look into switching to 93. It will allow for a little more timing.

im gonna try and go again this weekend, but im gonna pull my speaker box(3 10s), which is huge, the rear lower seat actually mounts to it, made of 3/4" mdf, so its probably 75-100lbs, pull the headlight and maybe the tailgate, and either run it on 91 or splash a couple gallons of 110 with the 87 in it, im gonna eek out that 14 if it kills me lol
are there any free mods I can do? I know of the cut air box and tb coolant bypass, but are there any others?
