Default First time at the track

First time at the track-2012-12-15_02-09-13_220.jpg

Friday 12/15 was my first ever trip to a track. Only got a single run before closing because it takes my girlfriend 17 hours to put on just a shirt let alone an entire outfit but I thought
My time was respectable-ish. What do you guys think?
Admittedly I feel I launched poorly. I was excited lol.

The girlfriend got a video and a pic but her photography skills aren't top notch, especially with a phone

That is what I would expect for headers, exhaust, stall, and tune. Very respectable. My 2wd reg cab long bed ran 14.2 with a tune and smaller stall.

I would have guessed low 14's very high 13's with your mods!

You 2wd?? Seems like with that stall you could get that 60' down with some practice

4wd. Idk if I could launch w/o spinning excessively in 2wd. I know I can't on actual streets and since I got there soo late I didn't want to have my one run be a complete waste.

What I typically do is launch at at least 2.2k in 4hi and flip it to 2hi after launch before the 1-2. Any pointers?

Appreciate any help btw. Any and all things I THINK I know most likely came from reading you guys' threads on here. Needless to say I'm lacking my own hands on experience. Reading only goes so far

When I was N/A and stock converter I would launch in 4x4 and swtich to 2wd after the 1-2 shift. Not sure how well it would work trying to get it into 2wd before the 1-2 shift.

As for launch you will just have to play around and see what works best. Try different RPM's and see what responds the best. I am still trying to figure that out with mine now.

I would shift to 2wd after the 1-2 shift and play around with different RPM's for launch and I bet you could get a 2 second if not very high 1.9 60'.

Have fun!

I would try leaving off idle a couple times. If I remember right Ive seen people with close to the same converter try that and have it work well for them.

In 2wd or 4? I've tried leaving off idle in 2hi and its the same story. Just peel out. Haven't tried 4hi from idle. I just assumed that if I can launch from a higher rpm without peeling out in 4hi then from idle it wouldnt be the optimal launch. If that makes sense?

I would always launch in 4x4 then shift to 2wd after the 1-2.

Play with different RPM's. I have found that with my 3400 stall it really likes it if I am just a little above idle and then stomp the throttle to WOT and flash the converter. Seems to respond better.
