Thank you, but unfortunately I have SUV rear discs. I'm stuck running a 16" or larger wheel to clear the calipers. I have some stock 16" Tahoe wheels and sone 17" Denali wheels that I could try shorter tires on. Just not finding the sizes that will work.

So far i dont like it haha. Stock converter and 3.23s with 31" tire. It has that cool kid idle sound but doesnt seem to have much powers.
Them gears definitely need to go in the garbage! The cam is also welcome to follow...

Bet that runs like total dogshit, probably slower than the stock cam.

Dang, even 'I" know that those gears/tire combination are not for Performance, LOL 🤣. I'm kidding, kinda.

OP, maybe this is the time to learn to regear, if you don't already. ☺️

Not sure what you mean by that, i have 4 11s - not 3.23s
I go through the traps around 5000 RPM, this combo peaks at 5600. Yeah, it would be better to be at 5600-5800 - but I'm not terribly undergeared like someone running a 3.23 or 3.42 gear. More gear isn't going to make my truck way faster at this power level.

Oh, I apologize.

I mis-took the quote about the 3.23 gear as yours and was also referring to the 3.73/oversized tire quote...🤦

Agreed, 4.11 gears are good. 👌

Carry one Brother. This is a good thread, BTW!

Don't be bummed about the weight. I bought a brand new 2006 rcsb with a 5.3, back in well.....2006. It wasn't full loaded with options but it wasn't a work truck either. Brand new within the a month I took the truck to the track to get a base line...It weighed right at 4800lbs with me in it and ran a blistering 15.40 something around 88 mph 100% showroom stock with like 400 miles on it. Needless to say I was severely disappointed. I remember at the time, people were posting up about having there 2002-2005 trucks with very (I mean very) light mods bitching about having traction issues and claiming weights closer to like 4200 lbs. I remember thinking to myself either my truck was the biggest under achiever that ever came off the showroom floor or most people posting didn't have a clue what they were talking about. I chalked it up to the later as, even at the time, was no rookie to drag racing. I had already been working as a machinist at a race engine shop since 1998 and had been drag racing since my very first pass down a drag strip in 1996. Just my .02.

Oh, and a quick story about the value of having the correct converter. Still talking about that same 2006 truck I bought brand new. By the time I had only 12,000 miles on it, it had a build iron 5.7 (bored 5.3) with ported factory 706 heads, a decent cam and a d1sc procharger on it with a fully built 4l80 trans and 4.11 gears. I had Precision spec a Vigilantly converter for it (I requested a stall speed of around 3000 rpm). Had a very solid tune up in it, and took it to the track for the first time with that combo and it ran something like 13.20's at 111 mph. The converter was flashing to about 2200-2400 rpm off the starting line. Needless to say I was pissed and very disappointed. The next day, yanked the converter out, sent it back to them and said look, I need at lease another 1000-1200 rpm out of this thing. Got it back by Thursday of the same week, slammed it in there and hit the track that Friday night. I did not change one thing except the converter (not even the tuneup). I literally swapped the converter and thats it. Very first pass it went 11.45 at like 124 mph. The converter was now flashing about 34000-3600 rpm. It sounds like a lot but with the lock up I drove the **** out of that thing on the street. The only thing unpleasant about it was listing to a bunch of dudes crying that just bought new at the time z06's getting their asses drug from a roll on the highway on cruise night. I know my combo was a little different than yours, but my point it is, a simple converter change picked up almost 2 seconds and 12-13 mph in the 1/4 mile in a 4710lb truck (thats what it weighed after the build).
