Default ext cab cam only 12's do-able?

are 12's attainable with a cam only lq9? im trying to reach this with my SS. I have a yank 3600 and built trans already along with a tbss intake. wondering how big I will need to go in order to reach this goal?

You run 14.3 with the mods listed above? If so, I doubt a cam will pick it up 1.3 seconds. What gears do you have?

It has been done. I can think of a few that have gone 12.6-12.7 and one of them was on a TR224 cam, 4.10 gears, and a big stall. AP2002 was another one and I believe he was in the 12.5X range on a 226/226 cam. My little brother is at a 13.1 on his ECSB Vortec Max with a 224r and a 278mm tq converter with boltons and factory 3.73s.

On a side note, a ECSB 5.3 went 12.8ish also a few years back. Im just not 100% sure he had stock heads. The name AdrenalineP comes to mind.....

my ecsb went 12.88 on a stock 5.3 with full bolt ons. stock cammed 5.7 ls1 with same bolt ons went 13.26 and a 226/226 cam put it at 12.49.

AP went 12.41 with his 6.0 fully bolted with a 228/228 cam. we were actually running against each other when we both hit our cam only bests. his 12.41 to my 12.49. he had a little torque on me with extra cubes and the 317 heads over my 853's.

The sss is a little heavier then a standard ex cab truck, the 2wd comes in at 4950 I think, my awd is 5220. Plus the 2wd has the 14bolt axle that takes some power away. The heavier you are the more proper gearing/converter will come into affect, I would say yank ss4k stall, 4.56 gear, torquer v2 cam and a lights wheel/tire combo should get there.

im lighter than 4950. Mine is the stripper model SS. clotch interior, jump seat, no options other than power windows and locks. 2wd. Yes I went 14.3 but with a 2.2 60' I feel if I can cut a 1.8 that should have me mid 13's. im at 338 hp 358 tq on a dynojet on 22's. lighter wheels and tires are a must. im working on that as we speak.
