Disappointing Times!

Took my truck to local 1/8 mile strip and managed a best 9.22@75mph with 2.17 60'. Made 8 passes total and all 60' were between 2.17-2.47. Truck is 88 RCSB 350 bored .060 over, lunati 60122 cam 231/239@.050 .535/.550, dual plane intake, 770 holley carb, edge racing 3000 stall, 3.90 rear gear, and hedman longtubes into dual 2.5''. Truck previosly ran a best of 8.6 with same setup except with comp cam XR276 224/230@.050 .502/.510 and with single 3'' exhaust with shorty headers. What am I missing here except traction. Should truck run faster than old setup, please help.

What do the plugs look like after a run? Do the tires feel sticky or slippery after a pass? High heat and a carb outta adjustment (maybe a jet change or two) maybe two contributing factors.

Wonderful truth of carbs is that they don't tune them selves, get a Wideband and see how rich shes running....

ehh...edelbrock carb. never liked those. anyway yeah what's the trap speed difference? makes sense that you might lose some in the short run with the hotter cam and nothing else, stall might not be quite enough, air/fuel ratios are probably off if you didn't adjust the carb to compensate for the extra air, assuming it was dialed in before you're running lean now. also, get your traction issues figured out, spinning tires don't make you go

thanks for the reply guys. Previous best was 8.62 @ 80 mph and 13.62 @ 96 mph with a 1.96'. Plugs looked pretty good and i expected to lose some low end but it doesnt feel as strong as the other setup. I like the throttle response with the holley 770 vs the edelbrock 650 though. Ive though about trying a jet change to see if it would help. I know weather conditions made a difference because the night i ran the 9.22 it was 90-92 degrees and when i ran faster with the old setup it was in the 80's

First off, the converter needs to be reflashed a bit....I run a Edge Racing in my 1990 but with a 350 bored .060 over and that size cam, a 3600 stall would be in order. What are you shift points? Next on the list is the hedman headers. I ran them for a while and got rid of them. I have a set of mid-length headers now until I get my new long tubes but the hedmans are very restrictive around the exhaust ports....the cut off 75% of my AFR exhaust ports. When I made the switch to the mid-lengths with bigger exhaust ports, I gained overall power. Next question...did you degree the cam in or install it straight up? Might be out of a degree or two.....? Next question, how much timing are you running? Are you running a carb spacer? Carb spacers add plenum volume which may help your 770 holley.
