Lock up will help with slip and load turbo to charge hard out back door

Only downfall is converter has to be able to handle the lock up under that much torque

Sounds like your converter is really inefficient. That's allot of slip on top end.

Congrats on the new best! That weight/power level will be a converter tester for sure. That said, big girl still moves out man.

Thanks Foose! I'm thinking the s480 is going to bury this converter in it's grave, but we'll see.

You would be better served getting a converter that actually works well as opposed to locking yours. I picked up 4mph or so in the 1/8th by going to a better converter without locking. You are asking to break something locking it, IMO.

Also you shouldnt loose boost by hot lapping, so that is weird. Turbos are generally happier the more heat you throw at it.

Right, it would be ideal but we cannot make too many changes at once. The trans and converter are built to lock; I am not concerned on that account. However, I do want better performance. I've been suggested a 265mm converter.

The hotlapping experience is now repeatable....I lose boost, turbo just doesn't like it.

I'd like to see what it does with a 1.5x 60' and locking the converter in second. Congrats on the new PB. There is still room for improvement but that's getting down for a ext cab.

I've played the "what if" game in my head....let's just say theoretically I was able to pull a 1.56 60'. That would be a 0.2 second improvement, which is supposedly good for 4 tenths in the 1/4th. That brings us to 10.4. - DA air could be worth another tenth. And locking the converter earlier may or may not be beneficial. So theoretically, I could hit 10.3. But, all that's about equivalent to when I ran a 13.7 n/a with headers and 4.10s wondering if I could hit 13.0 on the stock cam....it never happened
