Default In all my years of drag racing I have never....

....fooled the light beams and posted a time that was almost 1 second faster than my normal time. well, the damnedest thing happened sunday, I was on new slicks, that were a few years old, and have never had the first rubber burnt off them. This was the first run of this season for me and the new setup too, so rookie jitters were expected. so I do a 2nd gear burnout, and get the slicks good and hot, while creating a huge cloud of smoke that followed me out of the burnout box and up to the light. as soon as I stop, I am already staged on accident. I cant see the tree lights count down because of the smoke, and the guy becides me goes, so I go. its just TNT so no harm no foul. So, I get past the 1/8 mile lights, and it flashes up 7.66.....I thought to myself, Damn it didnt feel that fast. I got my slip, and sure enough it said...
r/t 2.4
60ft 1.2
1/8 et 7.66
1/8 mph 83.6

so some how the smokeshow fooled the time lights and spit out a damn nice time for a n/a 5.3 in 3120 da. I have been racing for 10 years and never had that happen, lol.

but the good news is in the heat I am as fast as my best time was in the best DA(600+), so the mods paid off. With more tuning, and a higher stall, I should exceed my goals for the year. times were...for 3 runs
60ft 1.9
1/8et 8.40
1/8mph 83.5's

sprayed one time, 100 shot, but was pig rich and was close to closing time for the track. 11-10.8 afr and having other issues that will be worked out easy. but I did spank a big block trailer queen dodge pickup that some kids wanted to run for money on.
60ft 1.7x
1/8et 7.8x
1/8 mph 86.x

naw, I was side by side with the other truck(Ray). I can see where that would make you faster. but I am 100% sure I wasnt. but the smoke cloud was blocking out all the lights. I only rolled out a little after the burnout like I always do. if you pull up to far they make you back up, and Ray's slip showed a normal time, and we were side by side. It was funny to see it though...lol

Nice new times. If I had to guess, I'd say smoke covered beams when fronts moved FWD, smoke cleared, & then the rears X'd beams. Neat phenomenon tho.
