Default 4wd launching

Are you guys launching in 4wd hi and then switching to 2wd or running 4wd all the way through the 1/4? I have a manual floor shifter for 4wd and I don't think it will shift to 2wd under heavy throttle.

Mine is autotrac so it's easy to do, but I definintely wouldn't bother in your case. I think it would slow you down. Not a heck of a difference anyway. Happy racing!

I switch my autotrac back into 2wd after the 1-2 but yeah, how would you do that? You should try some 2wd launches with sticky's and compare to 4wd runs.

Some people say that it won't actually switch out of 4wd until you let off the gas at the end of the run anyway. I hit the button right after I launch but I dunno if it ever comes out of 4wd all the way.

I have launched 4wd then button to 2wd and then broke traction in the rear so I know mine at least quits putting power to the front.

Me too. I almost crashed my truck at 80mph when it broke loose going into 3rd gear.

Is it really bad for the transfer case to run high speeds in 4wd?

I think it's really hard on everything to run them like we do.
